Dexter is the hugely successfully book and television series that follows the life of sociopathic vigilante, Dexter Morgan.
Dexter, who is a blood spatter analyst, tracks and kills unsuspecting criminals who have gotten away with murder. Due to a traumatic event during his early childhood, Dexter has the urge to kill, but due to his stepfather, Harry’s, code he kills only the guilty.
The series follows Dexter as he tries to lead a normal life with girlfriend Rita and her two children as well as solving cases with the Miami Metro Police.
While the Showtime television series is based on the book series, only season one follows the same storyline as the book (Darkly Dreaming Dexter). Currently there have been five books published and they are currently filming sesaon 5 of the television adaptation.
