The Vampire Diaries: Season Three Premiere

It’s back!  Thank goodness!  Those cold winter months with no sexy vampires to provide a lovely distraction are over.  Vampire Diaries is back for its third season, just in time for lovely weather to arrive in Melbourne, Australia (not sure what the weather is over in the US of A but…I don’t really care, let’s be honest).  Is this a coincidence?  I think not.  Yay!

So, since it’s been about three months, anticipation building, hopes mounting, etc etc and so forth, you’d expect us viewer to be disappointed, no?

Well, I don’t know about you but I was not.  Not at all.  Kevin Williamson and the team at CW can be nasty with their cliffhangers and those plot twists, but when they say they will deliver, they deliver.

So what happened on this week’s episode?

Like usual, if you want the full recap, check out Kim’s blog HERE and then come back for all the juicy stuff we talk about here.

Right.  First off.  Possibly my only complaint for this week, (aside from the lack of Delena, come on!  writers, we need SOMETHING) was Damon’s hair.  WHY?  Last two seasons it has been luscious and gorgeous and unkempt (unlike Stefan’s wig-like bouffant.  Sorry dude, but it had to be said) and this season it’s just…eeh.  Too long.  Too boring.  Just…eeh.  Please get on that Ian Somerhalder.  Please (Although, as a warning girls, I saw pictures from last night’s Emmy’s and he’s still rocking that look.  So we’re stuck with it at least for the next few episodes I’d say).

Anyway.  Hair rant over.  The best bit of this week?  It’s a toughie, but I’m going to go for Stefan delivering.  I feel like Paul Wesley actually had a chance to act.  And isn’t Stefan “the ripper” Salvatore so much more entertaining than Stefan who waits at Elena’s beck and call?  I’m not sure if he has a big master plan, but one would hope so.  But saying that, he did convince Andie Star (if you don’t remember her it’s because she was Damon’s love interest…without the love) to jump off a very tall ledge, causing her to die…right in front of Damon.

And while we all know that Damon has screwed up in the past due to his evil plans (remember when he killed Stefan’s bestie in season one?  Ouch), this does seem to be taking it a bit far.  So does Stefan REALLY have a plan, or has the human blood just turned him more evil than he realised…and he’s in deep trouble no one can get him out of?

Speaking of evil plans…Klaus.  What’s the go with him?  As the only hybrid werewolf-vampire in existence, he has decided to try and make more of himself…but why?  If he does successfully turn a whole lot of werewolves into hybrids, how does he plan on controlling them?  And what use does he have for them?  Damn.  TVD writers, you’ve already got me asking too many questions.

Oh, and whatever happened to Elijah?  He bailed on the good guys, saved his brother and just went…poof?!  Or have I forgotten some important story arch that happened last season…

What other bit was great?  Caroline and Tyler FINALLY getting together, or as they shall be referred to from now on, Forwood (thanks Kim!).  They tried to do the whole “we’re just friends” thing, until Caroline got jealous and finally made a move, and WHAT a move!  It’s at times like this that I love that The Vampire Diaries is rated MA15+ (gotta hate the fade to black…Stephanie Meyer).

However, what should have been a great night backfired miserably for Caroline who tried to do the sneak out in the middle of the night (bad girl! bad vampire!) and ended up being shot with vervain by Tyler’s waiting mum.  Awkward.  How on earth are they going to explain that one?  And I really hope Caroline doesn’t get tortured again, because that was BRUTAL last season.

Any other news?  Bonnie is conveniently not around (except a bad videophone conversation.  Unnecessary.)  Perhaps because Kat Graham has no time for vampires anymore what with her singing career?  (No, that is NOT snarkiness you detected just then…)  Jeremy is still seeing dead people, Alaric is still depressed, and Elena and Damon are no closer to becoming Delena.

In fact, Elena ended the episode by answering a silent call from Stefan and reminding him how much she loved him.  Ugh.  Annoying.

What did you think of the first episode back?  Are you a fan?  What do you think of Forwood?  Will they last?  Or will his mum ruin everything?  Let me know!

Details about Vampire Diaries!

For all those Vampire Diaries lovers I know how you’re feeling.  Sad.  Neglected.  A little bit frustrated.  Why?  Because we have to wait until April, APRIL until we can see our lovely Salvatore brothers back in action.

While that IS a huge downer, I can at least help by giving you a few teasers.  And by me, I really mean Katerina Graham.

First off Kat, who plays Bonnie Bennett, tells us about how everyone will band together to basically stop Elena from turning into Vampire food (blood? thoughts?).  Basically, think the famous scooby gang from Buffy and you have a decent picture.  Lots of vampires, damsel in distress (aka Elena), a witch and a sidekick who doesn’t do a great deal (read: Jeremy).

Speaking of Jeremy, or should we say BEREMY, Kat gave us a little clue as to what’s going to happen between those little love birds:

“You’ll be able to see a lot of heartbreak between them both. Those characters are both really go through it before the end of the season.”

Uh-oh! Let’s just hope that one of them doesn’t get a Prue Halliwell done to them and dies an unexpected death.  Particularly since these are actually likeable characters!

And for those who weren’t expecting a big season finale? Well, first off, you’re not that bright are you? Seriously, where have you been for this entire series?  Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that, per usual, its going to be down to the wire but Bonnie, in kick-ass witchy-friend mode, will always be there for Elena:

“I can’t say too much, but I will say that if it ever comes today to having to do something for Elena, Bonnie will go balls out for her. She doesn’t care. Klaus coming into the show is going to create chaos. People are going to have to figure out what these characters have to do to save their lives.”

DUH DUH DUH.  Thought?

Well we’re on the topic of Kat Graham, did anyone know she was in Akon’s Lonely filmclip?  As in that one with the annoying hamster thing?  Yep.  THAT’S our lovely Bonnie.

For those who can’t remember and would like a trip down memory lane, have a looksie below!

You’re Welcome

Kat’s back!  Heard that before?  Well I did write a post with that title but that was concerning the lovely Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett in The Vampire Diaries.  No, this is the bad Kat.  As in crazy ass vampire bitch Katherine Pierce.

So what came about her well-timed return (girl knows how to make an entrance, gotta give her that)?  Death, mayhem and, oh yeah, more death.  However, before you say “I told you so”  the deaths that occurred were GOOD ones…well in the relative scheme of things.

For those who haven’t seen this week’s episode (FOOLS!) best to close the browser because a huge spoiler alert is coming your way…

So for those who are a bit behind times Elijah is “dead” or as dead as a dead vampire who doesn’t really die can be.  He’s got that nifty knife still buried in him and is currently lying in the Salvatore’s trusty basement (talk about versatile!).  So all should be good right?  No.  While those who are anti Elijah (namely the awesome gang) are happy, his witchy sidekicks are not.  And despite a bargaining with our good friend Stefan (he does always try to do the right thing after all) they want to cast a spell, pull out the dagger and make Elijah alive again.  Read: not good.

To do that they send Luca (the little man-witch) in “mind-form” into the Salvatore mansion where he can pull out the dagger etc etc.  However, things don’t go as he planned…(they never do in this show do they?)  Just as he is about to pull it out Katherine decides to grab a snack and sees the knife coming out of Elijah’s chest…ALL BY ITSELF (she can’t see Luca of course).  However, Katherine is a smart little vampire (did you not see how she got herself out of that tomb?) and realises something, or someone, is there and pushes the dagger back in.  Things then get a bit hairy.  Luca, spurred on by his dad, finds a bit of wood and STAKES Katherine (but misses the golden spot) and then goes back to the dagger.  Katherine, by this stage situably freaked, calls for Damon.  Damon appears and realises something fishy is going on (he’s also a smart guy under all that smouldering stare and muscles…not that it particularly matters) and turns the flame-thrower on Elijah…and invariably Luca.

Now to where Luca REALLY is and he is ACTUALLY caught on fire.  Ouch, that looks painful.  Ooh…that doesn’t look good.  Even when Doc Martin tries to do his best he can’t save Luca.  Which just causes him to get angrier.

Switch to the Grill where Caroline has just declared her love for Matt by singing on stage and who is now currently making out with said love in the bathrooms.  Good for her.  (On a side note, Candice Accola has a GREAT singing voice).  Jennah and Alaric are trying to talk things out…expect Alaric won’t actually tell her about Isobel.  Bonnie has just admitted to Elena that she has feelings for Jeremy…and Elena doesn’t mind!  Basically, it’s a busy Grill.

Cue Doc Martin.  Who is ANGRY.  He wants Elena as payback because one way or another he will find his daughter and save her (she’s being held by that baddie Klaus).  Lots of fire and ickiness later we have…an almost dying Matt? Wait.  What.  Yes you read that right.  Matt is about to die, unless Caroline does something.  Which she does.  She gives him some of her blood and he heals.  But now they have a tricky conversation ahead of them…

Somehow Elena makes it back to her house where she goes up to her bathroom. But who is lurking there to get her?  Oh yeah, that Doc Martin who is royally pissed off.  Uh-oh.  Elena’s screwed.  Wait, was that fangs I see?  Oh its Katherine!  And now Doc Martin in dead.  Bonnie goes to make sure and WHAM! no he isn’t.  He grabs Bonnie but before anything happens (or so we think) Stefan breaks his neck.

It’s handy having vampires around.

For all the bits that I’ve missed out on check out Kim’s webpage HERE

Only other bit that needs to be added?  Damon showed where his loyalties lie when he refuses Katherine…even when she was literally on top of him in bed.  There’s a reason why I’m Team Delena here at Set In Motion.  Actually, that’s a lie.  There are MANY reasons.

Sadly though we’ll have to wait a while for the next instalment because devils that they are, the CW are airing some reality television show and Vampire Diaries won’t return until April 7th.  I know.  I’m angry too.

Thoughts?  What did you think of this week’s episode?

Kat Graham’s Take On Garbage

Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries, has launched her singing career with a cover of Garbage’s 90s hit “I’m Only Happy When It Rains” which will feature on Monday night’s episode of the show.

While she has a great voice, the cover isn’t very original and still sounds like Garbage (tehehe, ignore the pun) and I wonder if it has had any special effects added to make it sound better.

But then I might just be a tad judgmental; I’ve never been a fan of actors who suddenly realise they have wanted to sing all along…

Thoughts?

Check it out below.

Reason #147 why The Vampire Diaries is awesome!

They’re normal!  Is anyone else sick of those actors who become a part of a popular show and turn A-lister on us?  *cough Taylor Momsen cough*  They party all the time, don’t wear knickers, get checked into rehab for drug use…Sound familiar?

Well, luckily for us Vampire Diaries fans, our fave stars are NOT this way.  Partially because they are all alone in Georgia and partially because in my mind they are wonderful people (ccould they NOT be?  Have you seen how good-looking they are?  Wait…)

According to Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, this is why they are so normal and close:

“[If we shot in LA] I think we would all be so busy and have so many responsibilities press-wise. But because we’re in Georgia, we’re just like, ‘Hey guys, what do you want to do after work? I don’t know. Let’s go hang out. Let’s go to a bar or a movie.’ It’s a very normal environment.”

So hooray for the only NORMAL celebrities who star in a CW television show.

Kat’s Back!

For all you vampire diaries fans out there (by the way, is there a nickname for us?  There are the twihards and the potterheads but nothing for us.  Sad.)  the lovely Katerina Graham returns tonight on the newest episode.  Kat, who plays Bonnie, hasn’t been around for the past few episodes for no apparent reason.  However, she does have a music career that she is starting up…Or maybe she has pissed off some important writers?

What do you guys think?  Glad to have Bonnie back?
