For those who a fan of the Tomorrow Series, I have good news.  There is going to be a sequel (and hopefully eventually a sevential…or whatever the seventh instalment is called…) after the first movie, Tomorrow When The War Began was a success.

For those who haven’t heard about the books or the film, The Tomorrow Series is a young adult fiction series by John Marsden.  The books follow a group of renegade teenagers who attempt guerilla attacks after Australia is invaded.  While the books are suitable for young teenagers, it does have some intense moments…which is where the film comes in…and the good news.

Production has been given the green light for Tomorrow When The War Began 2 (not the best title…), which is scheduled to be released in 2012.  The director, Stuart Beattie, will be returning, alongside the original cast, including Caitlin Stasey, Phoebe Tonkin and Chris Pang.

The film will be based on the second novel, The Dead of The Night, which follows the group after their attack on the main bridge in town.  They spend their time in Hell (their hidden hideaway in the bush) and become lethargic and depressed over what they have done, and what they may have to do in the future.

If that is not enough reason to jump for joy (which is it.  Seriously, the first movie was great), the film will be shot in the Blue Mountains, which is expected to inject $40 million dollars and create 450 jobs for the community. Win-win-win!

Thoughts?  Have you seen Tomorrow When The War Began, or read the books?  Would you go see a sequel?
