Here at Set In Motion, we get excited quite easily.  A shirtless man, a new vampire show, James Franco-related outburts.  We enjoy it all.  But this time, it’s actually big news.  Huge.  Stupendous.  If books were equivalent to historical life events, this news is pretty much the same as Barack Obama becoming the first African-American president of the United States.

And no, I don’t think I am exaggerating.

J K Rowling is starting a new book.  Yes.  You read that right.  J K, the brilliant and famous author that provided (provides-let’s be honest here, none of us have moved on) countless hours of entertainment to millions of people across the world with her Harry Potter series, is going to release another book.

I do apologize in that there are very few tidbits of information floating around at the moment.  So far we know that this book will be completely separate from the Harry Potter series, yet we cannot determine whether or not it will be the beginning of a new series.

Also, we know that it is intended for an adult audience (as if adults didn’t read Harry Potter though…pah!), and therefore J K has decided to go with another publisher.  But before you feel bad for Bloomsbury, they still have ALL the publishing rights to Harry Potter.

Finally, a direct quote about the new book from J K Rowling herself:

Although I’ve enjoyed writing it just as much, my next novel will be very different from the Harry Potter series.

So what do you think?  Are you as excited as we are? Do you think she can produce a novel as amazing, or as close to amazing, as she did first time round?  Or do you think J K Rowling will be cursed by the Harry Potter series whenever she tries to write something differently?  Let me know!
