The Lord of The Rings

The Lord of the Rings, written by J R R Tolkien in 1954, is the hugely popular series about Frodo Baggins, a common hobbit who has to return the Ring of all rings to Mordor, where it has to be destroyed.  Along on his journey are three other hobbits; Sam, Merry and Pippin, as well as Aragon, a dwarf, Gimli, an elf, Legolas and a wizard, Gandalf.

While the books have always had a cult following, it wasn’t until 2001 when Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy was released, resulting in 17 academy awards and almost $3 billion in revenue.
